'88 to 97 truck parts interchangability questions

I have a '97 1/2 ton Sierra, and have a chance at getting a 1988 "parts truck" for little to no money. Both are 2 wheel drive, both have the 4.3. Now, undestand not much, if anything of the engines will interchange, and that's fine.

What I'd like to know is if the rear ends are interchangable(complete, or just the gears and carriers) and if the transmission, bell housing and flywheel/clutch parts(5spd. manual) are interchanable?

My '97 is an automatic, but if it all swaps, I wouldn't mind converting to the 5 spd... I've done auto to manual conversions many years ago, and I know the hassle of mouting the pedals and all, but when everything fits from one to the other, it's not too bad. But with the computers these days, I'm not sure what all would get confused...

Also, I assume the wheels are the same bolt pattern and would swap directly? The '88 has nicer wheels
