Modify cigarette lighter for on/off operation?

I have a 2001 Alero and I'm tired of having a cigarette lighter that is constantly "HOT" even when the car is turned off. Is there anyway to change this operation so the cigarette lighter will turn off when the key is removed from the ignition and the lighter will turn on (become HOT) when the key is placed in the acc position? For example, my automatic windows won't work when the key is removed from the ignition, but they will when the key is inserted and turned to the acc position. I just get tired of constantly turning my gps and radar detector on and off.

Thanks for the help,

Todd

Thanks for the response Max. I'd love to rewire the cigarette lighter, but after thinking about it, I'm not sure I'm comfortable doing that. I think I might buy some kind of toggle switch and splice that into the power supply for the lighter. That way I could leave it hot whenever I want.
