front end squeaking

I have a 2003 trailblazer 4x4 and the front end squeaks very badly over all bumps. I looked at the front end to put grease in the ball joints but it only has bushings that you cant grease. Does anyone know where I can buy fittings that I can grease or do I have to replace them with more bushings? also which ones are making the noise?

Re: front end squeaking

This might be a long shot but do a search on this. There was a lot of discussions a while back with squeaks from the front and IIRC, one solution was greasing/adjusting the front hood supports.

At least I know this was an issue with mine at the time.

Good luck.

Re: front end squeaking

I had the same problem with my 03 olds bravada. The dealer fixed by replacing both front stabilizer links. Now it's squeaking again and I've heard all you have to do is just grease it with lithium grease but I don't know where to put it. Any ideas?

Re: front end squeaking

I had a similar problem on 02 TB ... squeak on braking over bumps, especially on turns and would go away when raining. The problem was caused be the front hood mounts. The rubber mount that aligns the hood was rubbing against the hood causing it to squeak. The dealer charged $135 bucks to fix initially. It later came back. This time I put a little armoral on the rubber mount and it hasn't come back since. Check this before you spend hundreds on new control arms, bushing, etc..

Re: front end squeaking

I had the same issue on my 03 TB. I had both the front and rear stabilizer links replaced... with no end to the squeaking. I finally greased the hood mounts and the problem went away... now every time it comes back, I re-grease the mounts. Don't waste your money at a dealership... I had to tell them what the issue was!

Re: front end squeaking

I have the same problem and had the stabilizer links replaced in my 03 Trailblazer. It came back within 5 months. I had them replaced again since it was under warranty still. I asked about it and they said normal wear and tear. It is doing it again and this time it is not under warranty. I will definately try this fix! Thanks!

Re: front end squeaking

We have 201,500+ on an 02 LTZ. replace DS ball joint, squeak went away, not passenger side squeaks when I push down on that side. My guess is that ball joint is bad. Had clunking in the back but I personally replaced both side sway bar links, took care of that. Its been a great vech. bought it new. Synthetic oil, perform all my own maint.

Re: front end squeaking

Like others have indicated, believe it or not it's usually the hood slightly out of adjustment unless the front end has high miles/high wear. There's also a post not too old either here or on the GMC Envoy board about slightly tightening
the nut at the bottom of the strut to quiet a squeak. But check the hood first. There's an adjustment rubber on each side, turns by hand. Good luck.
