2003 taurus fuel cap

hi

i need help. i just bought a 2003 taurus and the fuel cap icon on the gauge cluster came on. i replaced the fuel cap and the light is still on.
does this need to be reset or will it go off on it's own or do i have another problem?

thanks,elizar22

Re: 2003 taurus feul cap

If it is just a poor fitting/defective fuel cap issue..after three driving cycles the Check Engine/Service Engine Soon light should turn off.
(A driving cycle consists of a cold engine startup followed by mixed city/highway driving).

Grabbed this info out of my Chilton's manual. If this does not do the trick have get the code pulled at Autozone (free). Then post the code here.
