water separator for air compressor

Hi, I was wondering if you guys can help me find a water and oil separator. And can you tell me if you can mount them horizontally and if not how would i go about mounting this to my air compressor http://cgi.ebay.com/Water-Separator-...QcmdZViewItem?

Oh and btw I have one of these http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...+%26+Inflators
IT is an oiled air compressor and I dont want oil messing up my paint job.

They're calling that an inline unit and looking at the connections it is, but the bleed on it for the moisture is on one end which is usually mounted downwards.

I would advise you contact the seller and ask them if you can mount it horizontally if that's what you're looking to do.

Do you have a pressure regulator? If you don't you may be better off getting a regulator/filter combo unit:

Alternatively, if you only need the filter, go to Lowes and buy one of these, you'll still be saving money over the ebay one and will at least know what you're getting:

Re: water separator for air compressor

You honestly should not need an oil separator, there was a thread on this not too long ago, you may want to search for it. If you do get oil on the outfeed side, the water trap will be able to handle it. If you get a water trap with a clear bulb, you will be able to monitor it.

What pressure range will the regulator on the unit give you, if it's max is 125psi per Craftman's spec then it will likely not give you the control you need to airbrush (15 - 40 psi)

Re: water separator for air compressor

Here's a thread that I started a while back:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=755472
In the end I got 3 filters...yes, I'm excessive... and yes, I'm extremely paranoid when it comes to painting.
A 2 in 1 setup which filters oil and water and a final filter/regulator setup...

Sorry these are in Chinese....couldn't find any of the same models on other sites...
http://tw.f3.page.bid.yahoo.com/tw/a...8?u=pine009.tw
This is the 2 in 1 I'm using but mine doesn't have the regulator and guage, I bought from this seller too.. nice guy..
The 2 parts are exactly the same.. only difference is the filter core
http://tw.page.bid.yahoo.com/tw/auction/1153860707
same model as my last water filter/ regulator, bought at an air-compressor shop..

fyi the 2 in 1 set cost me 44.29US including 2 fast connectors and shipping.
The filter/regulator cost me 23.15US.
HTH,
Steve
