86 HVAC front blower not working

I have a 86 astro with only 68k on it. Ya what a rare find this was. Big reason is it sat in the backyard for 5yrs. Well it came out of the southwest. No way in n. mich would it not be rusted out by now. Anyways, I changed the resistor/coil pack and it worked for about 3 days. Now i am back to pulling the harness out and sometimes it runs or i have to shut the van off and restart it and then it runs, or just down the road it comes on. Now could the blower motor be shorting out the reisistor pack?, or did I get a bad resistor pack and need a new one. Like i said yesterday it ran great everytime i started the motor, today not. And there is no problem with the heat, its definitely there. I do have to hook up the inside guage on the dash for the tempeture. I found the sensor on the passenger side next to the exhaust manifolds. Now i am trying to find the wire. I also have to vac lines, one goes to the little ball underneath the blower motor and the other two head over behind the battery and one is a 4pin harness that plugs into and above a 12pin harness and the vac line plugs in there too. This module is located like i said against the firewall behind the battery. Well there is two problems waiting for an answer.

Possibly the HIGH fan relay, switch, or blower motor brushes.

Re: 86 HVAC front blower not working

I have a 2002 Astro that the front blower stopped working, after checking out the fuse and other possibilities I found that the problem was simply a bad connection at the blower moter.
On mine it is under the hood near the windshiled washer bottle.

Re: 86 HVAC front blower not working

well now, i found out why there was a 1.5 inch round hole in the blower motor housing. The last person used it to flip the wheel to get it running. So when it doesnt work thats what i do for right now, spin the cage and off it goes. One problem, it shuts off when it wants to also. or starts up on a good bump. Well i have a spare from my 90, i fired that one up and it was slow but after awhile it ran quicker. Still gonna look at the wiring. I figure one of the brushes are worn or a bad spot on the armature.
