PLEASE HELP 1999 alero all f**ed up

I have a 1999 alero. Probably the worst car ever made.. no wonder they shut down oldsmobile. But anyway. My dash lights wont turn on and eathier will my floor shifter lights. But my dome light still works and there wired in the same switch. All fuses are ok. and as far as ive checked the switch is too. Another problem car engine hops when accelerating and it does it even more when the ac is on. Sparking/clicking sound comming from underneith the hood is also a conern. Nobody seems to know the problem. Someone please help me soon

Re: PLEASE HELP 1999 alero all f**ed up

Welcome to AF alerobob.

Not the worst car believe me, though plagued with problems if not maintained.

I'd check the wires and plug on the dimmer switch could be bad or not making proper contact. With a volt meter the voltage from the switch shold very from 4-12 volts aprox.

Which lights exactly are not working ?
You said "my floor shifter lights", Is it both the floor and shifter lights or just the shifter ??

How about the radio and hvac unit, do they light up ??

Also you didnt mention what engine size you have , so ticking could be many things.
Cant believe no one can figure it out.
