Winter trouble 1999 Gt

Hello! i recently dropped a new 3.8L in my 99 prix gt, the old engines timing chain let go, just gonna use it for parts now (389,000km). Wasn't that bad of a swap, just had to block off a vacuum line from the newer 2000 engine i put in. Anyways i have to park my car on the driveway and winter's eating at it. i open the trunk, the hydraulic arms aren't working, and the trunk just falls closed, the doors arent unlocking/locking properly anymore. (getting stuck open or stuck close). Have to hold the key forward for 10seconds before you hear the unlocking sound, and then turn it back to center yourself to make sure the door doesn't get jammed open. Door hidges sound sweaky, breaks are now sweaking (not while driving). Harder startup (to be expected anyways). Ice is also packing in where the wipers sit like crazy. Does anyone have suggestions on how to keep my car from blowingup over the course of this winter? It'd sure be nice to have a garage..

Thanks in advance.

Re: Winter trouble 1999 Gt

Use spray white lithium grease on the door hinges and latches, silicone spray on the door seals and trunk seal (to keep them from freezing shut), and lock-ease on the door and trunk lock cylinders to keep them free. There's not much you can do about the ice build-up where the wipers sit, although I use Rain-x windshield treatment and rain-x de-icer washer fluid to help keep the wipers from sticking to the windshield and make the windows easier to scrape.

Hey, thanks for the reply Richtazz. Sounds like ill give that a go, hopefully it'll solve the probelm for the most part. I also use rain-x, that stuff works wonders.
