Suspension Maintenance
I own a 98 MGM and I am planning to replace the shocks. Does anyone recommend any particular brand or type. I feel the current suspension is kinda stiff - I can feel all the little imperfections of the streets.
Any other suspension parts you recommend to be replaced? Thanks in advance. El Marquis |

Re: Suspension Maintenance
I like Monroe shocks, they are expensive but very long lived. My gearhead brother claims that Sears sells the same shocks under their name but I ain't finding out about that with one of my cars. Also, if you do go Monroe, you will save a bunch of dough changing them yourself.

Re: Suspension Maintenance
The best way I've found to replace shocks on any vehicle in a relatively cost effective manner is to watch the Sears circular that usually comes with the Sunday Newspaper.
After being blown out by my local garage with an over $300.00 price I remembered what I've done in the past. The latest Ad I saw was was buy 3 get the 4th one free with instal. I rolled out under $200.00 with 4 new Lifetime shocks and Alignment. |

Re: Suspension Maintenance
I like the less expensive shocks because they give a softer ride than the high priced. If you are feeling every bump in the road it will help to put less air in your tires. 32 would be about right.

Re: Suspension Maintenance
Now you are making me double guess. I was about to buy the most expensive ones out there.
I agree that the last time I spent big bucks on shocks, I ended up not really feeling good about the quality of the ride. Thanks for your input! ElMarquis |
