Constant Alarm Chirp - Help!

My nephew's 1997 Camry has a "Toyota VIP" alarmwhich is in a wierd state where about once every 30 seconds it flashes the lights and chirps 3 times. The red alarm LED on the dash constantly cycles through a flashing pattern. All of this (light flash/chirp/LED) happens both while the car is turned off and while driving. The only way to make is stop is to disconnect the battery. The flash/chirp behavior seems like what the alarm might do when it arms/disarms, however it's not arming in this case. He's had the car for 8 months but this only started recently. Anyone seen this problem or have a guess what it might be?

Re: Constant Alarm Chirp - Help!

I do not know the exact solution to the problem but I would guess that the reomote battery needs replacement.

Good luck,

Sam
