is this normal???

i got a 2002 mustang gt. the book says 6 quarts of oil . at my last oil chang i put 6 quarts of castrol sintic 5w20 and a motorcraft filter but my dipstick says i am a 1/4 of a quart low is this right ??? i know some stays in the filter but is that normal???

That manual shows you engine capacities. It doesn't take into consideration the amount the filter holds because filters and all made differently. Good luck.
