Head Light harness MELTED!

I bought some blue headlights For my P10 and after about a month or so of use, they melted the harness that connects to the bulb. I got new ones from Infiniti... stock bulbs work just fine but I put my blue ones back in (the new harness looked diffrent so I figured I give it a shot) sure enough, they started melting too, so I switched back to my stock bulbs.
Are their n-e Blue lights that wont get hotter than stock bulbs? This was a real pain in the ass!!

piaa's would be the best thing to get but hiper industries and some others are ok.. just make sure to look at the wattages on the bulbs... the lower the better.. might not be as bright but it wont melt ur harness

these harnesses will withstand the heat. or you could go to the infiniti dealer and ask if they have high heat resistant harnesses, but that will cost a damn lot. try the Nokya brand, they worked good for me with stock harnesses.

You also gotta watch out for your wiring. Too much wattage might melt more than your harness. Atleast that's what i've been told.

That's right, as things heat up, resistance increases causing more voltage drop causing current increase causing heat causing resistance inrease........... you get the idea? it's a viscous circle. Either lower wattage bulbs or upgraded harnesses/wiring is the cure.

Would some one mind explaining What all the HID, H4, all that stuff means??? What comes stock, and if I get those light harnesses what would be the brightest/bluest bulb I could get??? By the way, which would be the best one to get from http://secure15.dellhost.com/~d30022...ht_harness.htm
THanx again guys

hid = high intensity discharge SUPER BRITE light
h4 = bulb type you use on your headlight.
I use PIAA superwhites which simulate HID 60/55w
h3 = bulb type you use on your foglamp
I use PIAA ion crystal (amber/yellow) 55w
168 = bulb type used for markers(wedges)
I use PIAA superwhite to match the h4's.

Teh better lights require more power to make them work, so more current flows through the wires, creating more heat, thus melting the wires. I guess you could get bigger wires with more insulation. Teh best sloution is higher voltage, though.

On the contrary, the best lights ...the real HID as found in BMWs and the Q45s use less power to provide better lighting. The HID being talked about here are bulbs that simulate the same ambient colours as those of the real HID ..making them look similar but not necessarily perform the same. Real HIDs are also usually focused with some sort of lens mechanism such as those found in projector fog lights.
