Buying a Prelude?

Would anyone know if it'd be smarter to buy a 2000 or 2001 Prelude? I have a 97 Civic right now but am thinking of trading it in for a Prelude but Im not sure if that'd be smart. Payments are 250 a month for the civic now and the dealership I'm looking at is saying 190 to 210. But I don't know if thats how it works or is just a gimmick. The 2000 prelude i'm looking at now is going for 16,000 so what do yall think?

210/mo for a lude sounds right... any monthly payment can be possible, depending on how much you put down.

is your civic paid for, or do you still owe on it? if it were paid for, then everything it's blue booked for will be applied towards the Prelude.

assuming you have an EX Coupe with all standard options, no rice parts and is in clean condition with average miles (12,000/year, assuming 60,000 miles), avg blue book would be about $5000, and they'll probably offer you $4000.

the Prelude is $16,000, but is probably going to be sold to you for $14,000. they may or may not tell you they're discounting it, as they may just inflate the value of your trade.

say the car is $14,000, deduct $5000 for the trade value, then add about $1500 for tax, tag, title, and dealer handling fee. that's $10,500 to be financed.

with an avg interest rate based on 60 months financing (60 mos is the max for a used car) the monthly payment will be approximately $250.

base your monthly payment on $25 per $1000 financed. 10,000 x 25 = 250
