99 Malibu radio buttons don't light up

The display panel for my radio is slowly giving up. First the 2,5,8 buttons didn't light up. Later, the 1,4,7 lights didn't light up. Might this be a be a faulty board or could it be dirt?

I've never done this particular radio but have resoldered bulbs in other radios. Radio bulbs are often wired in series so if one goes out the string does. That may explain your 2,5,8 and 1,4,7 .

I have the same issue on my 98 malibu. Is there an easy fix to this (fuse perhaps)? So far I have lost the 1 and 4 on the stereo
