2.8

the 2.8 is around the low 7 seconds and the 1.8t is in the 8 seconds. i would go with the 2.8 because the pes supercharger is better then anything you can do for the 1.8t. with a pes supercharged 2.8 there is no lagg, will give you 290 + hp and it will put you in to the low 5 seconds for 0-60 estimit have't realy found out what the exact times are.

I got the A4 1.8t, but now I regret it and want to get a S4. If you have the money, go for the S4. If not, the A4 is a great car

What about the APR stage III kit for the 1.8t? That's a thousand less than the supercharger, you get 280 horsepower. I forget the torque but its at least 40 ft-lbs more than the pes.

Try going to goapr.com, tap1.com. or www.lltek.com. These are all pretty good sites for seeing some mods and how to squeeze power out of a 1.8 liter.

I heard that maintenance on the A4 is expensive as all hell.. Even more than a BMW... A timing belt and tensioner replacement will cost around $800 just in parts??? Is that true??? And also to change fan belt and radiator hoses, you'd have to take off the front end? Is that true????

ya s4 is totally dope car with 250 hp and 300 pound tq awd quattro!!! the upgrade turbos for that car are the european version turbos which produce 380 buit the a4 is the car i was considering buying the 1.8t because the 1997 models go for like 8-9k$ usd and a chip for 400 bux and 900$ turbo can make it have 280hp and still be a nice sedan , one question though , do people install boost controllers on their audis a4s? i mean i dont usually see them?

Rein, both kits are great, but I know alot of guys find the blowers more reliable.

As for boost controllers, most people use a VAG COM based ECU, which is a variation of the stock setup, that way you can still have your agressive timing and better fuel map; all the while maintaining daily drivablity. I have been in an A4 with a K26/t04e turbo and a manual boost controller in the car and it was bad ass, but he spent ALOT on the car.

Fatninja19, parts are expensive, but I think $800 is including labour. I think a Timing belt and tensor are about $300. As for taking the front off, it is very easy and makes it REALLY easy to get at things. It was designed to be taken off.

Re: A4 performance?

yea so what's the deal with 1.8T's? nobody's into the 2.8's? i jus bought a 2.8 and i love the V6 torque feel... its more of a raw power, which is why the blower catches my eye more than the turbo(with regards to lag)... i respect the 1.8's though, they definately crank out a lot of power for such a small engine... any ideas on what to do to a 2.8 though?
