2003 Impala Left Front Clicking

My 03 impala has a clicking noise that gets louder the farther I drive. Also there is a high pitched vibration from the same left side that also gets worse with a longer trip. I replaced the front brake pads and rotors which didn't help. While replacing the front brakes I put the car in neutral and turned the hubs by hand with the rotors/calipers off. No noise. Bad Bearing? Only 90K on car.

Re: 2003 Impala Left Front Clicking

Bearing hub can go bad at any time My right front went at 65k. Not that it is for sure the bearing is bad as there could be other cause such as CV joint and even debris in wheel speed sensor if so equiped w/antilock. Question: is there any noticable change in noise turning right or left? By the way with the wt off the bearing and turning by hand you probably will not be able to notice anything bad from the bearing.

As far as I can tell, the noise doesn't change when turning.

Re: 2003 Impala Left Front Clicking

Unfortunately the only way to eliminate the bearing as the cause of this noise and vibration is to replace it. Is this something you would do yourself? There are bearings out there for around 100 bucks but have been cautioned against here in other threads on this subject. I got a Timken bearing at a reasonable price but had to wait 10 days for the shipping. Shop around some price varies greatly..100-250. Be sure to note weather you have Antilock or not as there is a difference because the speed sensor is built into the hub.
