gauloises yamaha yzr m1 '04(a tribute to norifumi "norick" abe)

hi guys,

for those who have read motogp website or even the racing news, you must have known that norifumi "norick" abe passed away after a road accident in october.

i, too, was not only shocked but also sad to read the news in the motogp website. when i read that, i thought of making a model out of his even though i can't find his present bike that he's using this year. so, i decided to make this model. i had a hard time looking for the gauloises sticker as hlj has discontinued that product. so, i have to get it from media mix hobby.

here are the photos of the naked bike.

i think you might have notice one of the tube near the handlebars doesn't have the green wire. this is because i accidentally broke part that puts the wire when i tried to place the green wire on that part. i'm using the cm green wire & the diametre is smaller than the one provided by tamiya.

anyway, here are the photos of the completed bike.

it took me a while for me to finish as i didn't find the right time & feeling to make this model as i got this model some time ago. i wanted to add another thing for this tribute that is having his helmet on the bike like the one that tamiya has for daijiro kato. i know that hata from ks-workshop has it but he only accepts the payment not less than 300,000 yen which i can't buy it as the helmet is only 1,000+ yen.

Nice build there. I have been wanting this bike to add to the pile. That is the stock Tamiya kit only, right? I don't think paying 300,000 yen for a helmet is anywhere near ordering. Make one and cast it for future use?! I need to learn how to cast as well, but you could try. Great build!

Hej ace! Got to love this bike. Is it the picture or do you have some serious orange peel/bubbles in the paint at the rearmost seat cowl? From the pictures it looks as the paint has almost melt the plastic...

Looks really good. Same thoughts about your paint though. I'm halfway through mine, no.46 version and for soem reason your blue looks a lot lighter than mine, but looks nice nonetheless.

thanks guys.

joel : the orange peel is the putty that i tried to sand off. that time i thought of finishing leftover putty from the old tube i had before using the new one, i think that putty has already hardened from the inside & it was hard to press it out. so, i think that time it was a little bit hard to sand off. not sure how to explain this.

kev : i think the flash from the cam when i shoot it makes it look lighter.

enzo : how do i make one & cast it? since i'm new in terms, what does cast mean?
