'97 Grand Am front end and Gas problems

I have a 97 Grand Am and when I drive it a rubbing/grinding noise comes from the front end near the wheel wells. Ive had the brakes looked at but they where replaced about 2 months ago.

The tires also lose pressure at a rapid rate, 20 psi per week it seems.

The front end alignment of the car has been done about a month ago and it is starting to drift over to the right.

And lastly if my calculations are correct, this model year has a 15 gallon gas tank, in which I get about 100 miles out of a half tank (7.5 gal) with 70% highway driveing, which means I get about 14 miles to the gallon.

Why is all this happening? Ive entertained the fact that the rims might be bend which is causeing the loss of air pressure, grinding and poor gas milage

Please help!

Re: '97 Grand Am front end and Gas problems

grinding usualy indicates a bad bearing, I'd have that checked out.
Loosing that much air I'd say you have a nail or hole in the tire.

and I hope your kidding about getting 6 mpg cause that's terrible!!!

Since you didnt mention your engine size...
A major tune up, at least some new plugs/wires If they have been changed recently.
Though its possible an O2 sensor is bad, which will contribute to very poor mpg.

hope that helps and Welcome to AF.

Re: '97 Grand Am front end and Gas problems

Ive got the 3.1 V6 but I got it out of a 98 Century and did the intake changeover. It was inspected and it has 70k miles on it, 50k less than the car. I dont think there'd be a problem with the plugs or wires. I also just got brand new mounts, struts, shocks and brakes all around. Im not understanding what it could be besides the rims. No check engine light either.
