What is the difference between [ALL] and [DIR] on '04-'05 MP3 head unit?

Here I am again!!!

Another Toyota owner installing Aveo radio...heard it all before, I'll get to the point.

I have all my buttons on my "new" Daewoo MP3 player figured out.



Let's see:

RPT - keeps playing the same track over and over, endless loop
INT - plays about 5 secs of the intro of each track, skips to the next sequential track etc.
RDM - plays full tracks but in random order (hence "RDM")
DN - I understand this radio has a rather flat file structure, can only do one level of directories, oh well, this pages "down" through the directory list, displays directory name
UP - same as above, pages "up" through list
AST/DIR - AST means "auto station", but "DIR" is what has me messed up. For my multiple level MP3 CD's it appears to change the display from [ALL] to [DIR] but has absolutely no effect on function ?!? ?!?
DISP - on MP3 disks either displays directory name, file name (under directory) or a simple track / total track display

SO FAR SO GOOD, this radio is great!!!

What does the [ALL] / [DIR] do ???

The DIR and ALL functions on the radio allow the MP3 CDs with multiple levels to stay within a folder (DIR) or play the entire CD with all folders (ALL). I found it a bit hard to use and it was more practical to put in a Pioneer system.

Kinda a tight fit into that Toyo...dont you think?

Thanks a lot for researching that for me mikedudley17, you really went out of your way to help and I appreciate that.

So on [DIR] the directory will be repeated after the last file plays, on [ALL] the player will continue with the next directory, sounds perfect, that's a nice little feature to have, good to know about!

04AveoLSPJG5204, the radio doesn't even fit, but there really aren't many factory single-DIN MP3 players on the market, when this one arrived and was "a little too big", it was no going back, it was an art to make it fit, but it does.

The cool part is, when you look in the window of the truck, like an outside observer, you just see a black screen and some knobs, looks like a cheap OEM radio, slot is so far up into the bezel it's hardly visible. Wasn't the intention, but glad it worked out that way--my stealth CD player. No removable faceplate needed.

I always thought the Aveo was a real cute car for a good price.

hey it no prob. man. i am always willin to help where and owever i can. i really didnt get that bein treated like a noob feelin cus honestly we all help eachother alot on that forum lol. everyone has their sill questions from time to time (not callin ur question silly cus obviously u dont own an aveo and or have a manual that would pertain to an aveo cd/mp3 player.)

Ha! yeah, when I was looking at em it wasnt for me, for my wife, so cute applies, ifa uza be drivin it then it BAAAAAAAD.

hey, I might check out the other website, this Tacoma has a 2.4l 16V, 142 HP (but weighs ~2600 lbs, heavy) surprises some people, mostly GM trucks with V8's, I can eat 'em for breakfast (the older ones).
They poop out at 85, I can go to 100+, V8 dont mean nothin, it's all about the element of surprise and how fast you shift, is fun driving a little rat trap.

PS the DIR and ALL functions work just as promised, I checked it out tonite on the way home, worked perfect.
