Help,
I bought a 5.0 H.O engine from a friend of mine. It is completely dressed except without the computer. The car only had 13,000 miles on it when the car was rear ended and totalled. My question is; I want to build this motor to put in my 1966 Mustang. What modifications can I add to this motor without spending over $2,000 dollars. I was thinking, in order of importance: 1. New, larger, ported and polished heads. 2. Cam. 3. Headers, equal length? I am pretty sure I can get all that for less than $2,000 dollars, but I also have to pay a guy to do it for me because I am not a mechanic. Also, would you go with the EFI or go carburation? If I go carburation then I would definitely upgrade the intake manifold. I have seen some older Mustangs with the EFI and it looks pretty trick with the super charger. Any ideas, comments, or critisism welcomed! Steve. |

How can I say this, GET MECHANICAL. A budget and cars really do not mix.
What you have mentioned is a very good starting point. I would go EFI, but that is me, and I can do all the work. You might want to go carb, for its a lot easier. Equal length, go long. Not sure if it will fit in a 66 though. go to www.stangnet.com on the classic section, those guys will help you a lot more than I can, I have been away from the classic sceen for a while.
