Re: Power steering flush?

Welcome to the forums.

I honestly havent heard anything about that, why are you thinking you need to do this? If you type whats going on with the car one of the real mechanic's will help out.

Re: Power steering flush?

Some shops have machines to flush the power steering system, otherwise...you could take the lines off of the rack and let it drain out, and turn the wheel back and forth until all the fluid is out of the rack, then refill and bleed the system. Never really looked at the power steering setup on our cars so i'm not sure if theres a cooler, but basically wherever there's fluid, take off the line/hose to it and let it drain. But that would basically be a drain and fill, would get new fluid in there, but if there's any build-up it probably won't clean it out, so I would take it somewhere that flushes if you really want to flush.

What type of problem are you having that you want to flush?

Re: Power steering flush?

Your best bet is to take it somewhere and get it done by a trained mechanic. I sell those machines to different shops, and trust me when I say it is not something you wanna try to do at home. The machines will get it done quicker, better, and with less mess. Why are you wanting to do this? Keep in mind also that once a tranny gets to a certain age/mileage you shouldn't get this done. It can really mess your tranny up, even if a professional does it. How many miles are on it, and have you ever had it done before to that tranny?

Oops, my bad. That's what I get for not reading the post well enough, it's been a long ass day. Anyway, my advice on getting a mechanic to do it still stands though. They do have machines that will flush that as well, and they do a really good job from what I hear.
