Replacing 2001 SE third-eye brake light

Searched forum for this and came up empty, nor can I find procedures in a Chilton's manual (and I just looked at an on-line version). How does one replace the bulbs in the 2001 SE third-eye brake light? Thanks, all.

Re: Replacing 2001 SE third-eye brake light

I hae a 98 Taurus SE and if its anything like mine, you go in thru the trunk and look up underneath the rear deck and you should see the back end of the light housing. The bulb and socket just unlocks from the back of the housing and the bulb can be pulled from the socket. I don't know the bulb number off hand. Hope this helps.

Re: Replacing 2001 SE third-eye brake light

I had mine fixed under warranty several years ago. The "tech" smeared up my back window and had a terrible time. I looked in my owner's manual and found specific information how to do it there. Think is in yours?
