change sucks....i think everything should be in dollars or whatever you call paper cash in your country....Its just so much easier to carry.

I think the reason they are going to change is that it lasts longer and its certainly more difficult to counterfeit. They dont have to take it out of circulation like paper money and print up new batches to replace it.

Yep, metal money lasts more than 10 times longer on average than paper money. Also it is more collectable and much much harder to counterfeit.
ALSO, if the smallest denomination available was $1, then that's the cheapest something could be. Right now we have pennies, which means we can have penny candy and quarter machines. I like change.

Australian notes last a lot longer than any other country because it is a plastic polymer that was developed by the CSIRO (Scientific Bureau Thingy). We then sold the proprietry technology to other countries. It also has clear wondows, watermarks and many, many other features to prevent counterfeiting. It's also colour coded! Easy...

As for the dollar thing, I know the US and I think Canada still has 1c denomincations. The smallest we have is 5c coins. This means many things are like $19.95, etc.

Just a little trivia for y'all.
