Re: WTB: TDO5H Exhaust Housing

Well dude, if you want a new one here is a link... http://store.forcedperformance.net/m...de=Turbo-Parts

If not (no way in hell I would pay $300 for a fuckin HOUSING) I would pick yourself up a blown 14b or something, or I think I got charged $35 to pull a broked stud from a turbine housing and my water neck, I think you could do 'er for <$100.

Re: WTB: TDO5H Exhaust Housing

Thats a machine shop thing homes. Its not the turbos fault either, its the shitty bolts you were useing. Have you thought of or tried drilling them out? You would have to be uber carefull, but I think you could get a hole down the middle and get a screw driver or somethin in there to break the remaining "tube" lookin deal and salvage your housing.

Re: WTB: TDO5H Exhaust Housing

So this is a brand new housing? Damn I thought it was like 100k old or something. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to get those bolts out.

Re: WTB: TDO5H Exhaust Housing

Here's what I did to get one out a few days ago. I took two 5/16-18 standard size nuts and TIG welded them together, ground down the weld, then welded those nuts to the top of the bolt that was stuck. I think the heat along with the extra leverage applied to the bolt made it come right out.

This may not be feasable in your application, but I'm just throwin' it out there for those people who stripped their bolt head. I can get pics of it too.

Re: WTB: TDO5H Exhaust Housing

Sounds like a good idea, weld the biggest nuts you can to it. Or weld a long thick rod to it so you have just twist it out.

Re: WTB: TDO5H Exhaust Housing

well, SBR tried that... basically here is what happened...
*copy of email sent to SBR management*
I contacted Slowboyracing (Jeff) for port work on my EvoIII16g Exhaust housing (TD05H). I notified Jeff that the four manifold bolts had broken off and are stuck in the housing. I was perfectly clear when I described the attempted methods of removing the broken bolts from the Exhaust housing with no success. Jeff told me they could get the bolts out no problem and quoted me:

~$75.00 flat rate for stud removal and a 34mm wastegate flapper install

~$100.00 to port the exhaust housing inlet and outlet

~$20.00 for the actual 34mm flapper piece

~$29.75 for new ARP turbo bolts

~$20.00 Return Shipping

TOTAL

~$244.75

I received a call from Jeff on November 12th telling me that they would need even more money to get the bolts out which I did not agree with. I had come to the decision I wanted the item retuned rather then paying any additional costs. I called Jeff on November 27th and told him to return my money and the housing because we had agreed on a FLAT RATE to remove the studs. He agreed to return my housing and refund my money. I received $149.75 as of November 30th, which leaves an outstanding balance of $94.00.
*end copy*

well, i got the housing back in OK shape, it was kinda scratched and dinged on the copper (looking) seal and a large scrape on the flange for the manifold and all 3 bolts were broken off to flush with the rest of the housing. i had to pay for return shipping AND a $75.00 gurage fee to have nothing fixed on it! no flapper, nothing!

i will probably never be using SBR again for anything! at all! they were rude to me, and not to mention HELPLESS and it cost me $94.00 for NOTHING! so F-them!

the turbo is currently at a local shop that is drilling out the studs, re-taping them, and porting the turbo for UNDER $200.00 and i have talked to guys that got work done their that swear the shop is AWESOME! so i'm pretty excited to get it back on monday (Dec 17) at around 12 o'clock noon (CCT) and i'll be sure to keep you guys up to date (those of you who care anyway)

i do have 1 question though, how do i go about installing (by my self) a 34mm flapper? i cant even get the OEM one out... it looks to me like its all one piece... keven? bryan? anyone know anything about this?
