how to fix small leak in gas tank
1987 Lesabre custom. Had a rock fly up and put a small slit in the bottom of my gas tank. Very small but is leaking steady drips. What is the best thing to use to repair it? I tried JB weld but it didn't work. Thanks.

Re: how to fix small leak in gas tank
Remove it. It can then be safely welded. Application of epoxy putties and sealants is probably not a permanent solution.

Re: how to fix small leak in gas tank
I would recommend a replacement rather than repair unless of course you can do the repair yourself. For example, you could get one from Advance for at most $98 for this model:
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...e=1296&PTSet=A This company is associated with Advance Auto Parts, but in almost all cases the price is cheaper if you DON'T buy it off the internet but instead just buy it directly from Advance. Therefore, the price could be less than $98 for this particular tank. If you have to pay someone to weld it it could cost a significant fraction of that $98 and it won't necessarily last as long. |
