Neutral position/ safety switch
2000 Express 3500 6.5 Turbo Diesel
Replaced safety switch 1 mo ago. Now same problem. Turn the key & nothing happens. I can start the truck by jumping out the pins at the starter relay under the hood in the fuse block. My issue is that I need identification for the pins at the safety switch. My switch has a 7 pin and a 4 pin plug. I suspect the 4 pin is involved. I have the chilton's online manual, but is shows little of this switch. Any help would be great. |

Re: Neutral position/ safety switch
Check your PM mail.
For online repair info the All Data sub is one of the best. http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html Good luck and let us know how it goes. MT

Thanks for your quick response. The schematic was perfect, thank you. I found the right terminals and temp. fixed the connection at the switch. The harness is mangled, so I'll have to replace both plugs. After I fixed the connections and replaced a fuse in the inside panel, it started right up.Thank you again. Now I have to troubleshoot my glow plug circuit. The truck won't start in the cold without starting fluid, also a new problem. |

Re: Neutral position/ safety switch
You are welcome and thanks for posting back how it went.
Glad you got it figured out and fixed. On the glow plugs always test each glow plug. I always like to just touch a 12 volt fused jumper to each one and see if they are pulling voltage. A bad or weak glow plug will not pull any voltage. Good Luck MT
