2000 GT
The sound seems to be coming from behind the dashboard & I only hear it when turning the wheel to park or make a u-turn. I had another person turning the wheel while I was under the hood & I could not hear it from outside, but this other person said they could while inside. Any body else have/had this? Any ideas? |

Re: Creaking sound heard from inside when turning at low speeds
My girlfriend has a sound similiar to this. Only seems audible from inside. Her's seems to be more like a squeel or a whurrr. We have tried everything, new belt, numerous changes of power steering fluid, Nothing has helped. Hers only seems audible when the car is warm and turning the wheels at low speeds or parked in the driveway. Its done it since she bought it, and it hasnt gotten any worse, or better. No idea what to do next, so if you figure yours out, please let me know. Thanks!!

Re: Creaking sound heard from inside when turning at low speeds
Sounds like a bad power steering pump.

Re: Creaking sound heard from inside when turning at low speeds
Our 2004 does the same thing. It is not the power steering pump. It can only be heard from inside the car and only if the radio is very low or off. It almost sound like plastic rubbing or something. I would love to know what it is also.

Re: Creaking sound heard from inside when turning at low speeds
My GT has 136K on it & I noticed this sound after changing suspension parts 2k miles ago. I went with KYB struts & mounts, Gen 2 SSC lowering springs and pogo eliminators from the zzperformance website.
My ride is horrible. My GT is excessively bouncy at highway speeds, my head once hit the roof going over a dip at 60 mph. I don't mean bouncy as in constant up & down, but when my suspension compresses & goes down, it seems to come back up excessively. Around town the ride is just hard when going over potholes as if the suspension isn't absorbing as it should. I don't have money to experiment with different setups, & I'm afraid that if I do change things again I'll only end up with the same results. Anyone think going completely stock would be an improvement? |
