2006 Sedona Remote Programming - How?

Can anyone offer information on how to program a keyless entry remote for an 06 Sedona? I have two quotes from dealers - $40 & $50 for programming. I'd rather do it myself? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 2006 Sedona Remote Programming - How?

I have a 2005 sedona LX and the info I found was that 2001 to 2005 you can do yourself. but, 2006 on was only done at the Kia dealer. I don't know if that is real. here is what i have been on mine.
ref see: http://www.kia-forums.com/kia-carniv...ng-remote.html I got two new remotes from OriginalKeyless.com [FCC ID: PLNBONTEC-T009, Bontec co. ltd, no sn] for my 05 Sedona LX and the instruction wanted me to jump terminal 5 and 17 on the black plug in the engine bay by battery, then turn key on, push remote lock/unlock on for 1 sec, then turn key off, remove jumper. I found black plug see attached pdf. From articals I beleive it is the old diagnostic plug with three roles of pins. First row has two sets of two pins the other two rows have 8 pins each. The pin numbers are 1-4[small row], 5-12[middle row], 13-20[bottom row]. I thought my plug only had pins 2-9, 12-14 and 17 with pins. I jumped terminals 5 and 17=no good. Opps! From another reference material, I found I was reading pin one wrong. My plug has pins 1-3, 5,8-12, 16, 19 and 20 with pins. If I read it one way I jump 5 to 17. If I read pin 1 the other way I was jumping 12 to 16. I jumped the same pins all along. But, I still never got the remote to work.
ref see: http://www.kia-forums.com/do-yoursel...ramming-2.html Bopbo's artical to orlandom with Sedona EX 2005 said to jump terminals 12 to 16. My plug has pins 1-3, 5,8-12, 16, 19 and 20 with pins. [see original picture]. I jumped 12 to 16, turned key on, hit unlock key twice, turn key off, pulled jumper, and tested remote. Still nothing got programmed.
ref see: http://www.programyourremote.com/cla...Ad.asp?id=1674 2006 Kia Sorento - Free Keyless Remote Fob Entry programming instructions, procedures for all automotive vehicles says I need to try jumping pin 6 to Positive terminal as this artical says. I don't like jumping positive to any pin. Any help will be appreciated.

Taken from Sedona '05 shop procedure manual. May work for other cars and years....
From 1/16/02 production, a new RKE receiver has been implemented that will accept two remotes. The new receiver is interchangeable with the old unit. Customers wishing to upgrade may purchase the new receiver and a new remote transmitter. Their old transmitter is compatible with the new receiver. The RKE receiver is mounted behind the upper glove box on the passenger side. Programming is similar to previous system.
1. Open hood and locate diagnostic connector near battery.
2. Jump pin 5 to pin 17.
3. Turn ignition switch to the on position.
4. Press lock button of first transmitter two times.
5. Press lock button of second transmitter two times.
6. Turn ignition key to the off position and remove the key.
7. Disconnect jumper from the diagnostic connector.
8. Check for lock and unlock operation of both transmitters.
P.S. the connector is shown with pins 1-2 side by side at the top left, then a big gap, then 3-4 on the far right. The second row picks up pins 5-12 from left to right. 3rd row is 13-20 from left to right.
Hope this helps.
I just bid on ebay for another FOB. will let you know....

The reciever on the 06+ vans is located in the fuse panel on the driver's side. It is called the IPM and i'm pretty sure you can only have it programmed at the dealership. It literally takes 3 minutes.

Re: 2006 Sedona Remote Programming - How?

There are different remote types available for the 06 Sedona pictured here:

http://originalkeyless.com/searchqui...2206+Sedona%22

The remote type DOES require dealer or locksmith programming as there is not a customer friendly procedure available for that model year.
