2006 Odyssey + XM

We haven't been able to get a clear answer out of our local dealer.

We have an XM vehicle type radio given to us from a friend. Our 2006 Ody is "XM ready", but we can find NO info on what that means.

The Ody also has a 6-disc CD changer. The little we have found suggests this conflicts with the XM readiness of our radio. As in, either use the XM, or use the CD, but not both.

We live in an area where there are few "open" FM channels, so the typical add on XM or iPod FM player doesn't play well thru our FM channels.

We would like to plug the XM radio we have into the radio itself, but cannot find info on how to do this. Or, heck, if it is an option, use the std radio to play XM if that is an option.

ARGH! anyone have a clue?

Thanks

Re: 2006 Odyssey + XM

I understand you need to get an XM tuner. The tuner is mounted under the drivers seat and is connected to existing harness. The antenna wire is then routed up the piller or between the roof and roof liner to the antenna's location. It's to be located in the upper right corner of the front windshield, mounted to the interior surface via double sided tape or adhesive. Once installed, the xm button is depressed when you want to listen to the signals. But first you have to tune to station 001 to obtain the radio code. After obtaining the code, provide that info to the xm sales rep when requested at the time of sign up.

Re: 2006 Odyssey + XM

we had a guy come in wanting to add the honda xm reciever to his "xm ready" radio. Did'nt work out because we couldnt order the reciever, it was a obsolete part, and they didnt sell it anymore.

good luck finding one, i dont know if aftermarket ones will work.
