extremely quick 89 firebird 2.8l

Ok, well me and my dad just finished fixing up my 2.8l firebird. And we were driving down lakeshore, and we hit a light. A 1gen talon tsi awd pulled up, and when the light hit green we raced. I totally blew him out, and even with his awd, i ripped him out of the hole!

At first my tires spun but i downshifted to 2 (automatic), and took off, i ripped him so hardcore and i don't know how..

I know the 2.8's are veerrry slow, but the tsi has 190 hp stock! And how the hell could i match that! The only mods i have are a dynomax super turbo muffler, 180 thermostat, and underdrive pully!! HOW DID I PULL THIS OFF??

I raced until i was at 80 and i was at least 2 car lengths on him and still pullin. Wtf

Ohh and he WAS racing, he popped the clutch at a decent rpm, and he peeled out, because i know someone would have said that he wasnt racing.

Re: extremely quick 89 firebird 2.8l

You've gotta be full of shit, theres something wrong here. a 2.8l firebird has like 150hp, plus he had awd, maybe he was giving you false hope? or was the kind of person that didnt rev there car too high.Sure it wasnt an esi with tsi badge or something?

Re: extremely quick 89 firebird 2.8l

I'm gonna have to say its impossible for a slow ass 2.8 thats mated to a 700r4 to pull on a talon even if it was parked.

just because he has a faster car doesnt mean his car is in the greatest running shape... so either way, a wins a win

Re: extremely quick 89 firebird 2.8l

I'm still calling bullshit on this one... I've owned both cars and there is no way in hell you smoked him like you said unless it was non-turbo... Even at that, the 2.8 is a major turd with these heavy cars...

Re: extremely quick 89 firebird 2.8l

Sounds like when I first got my LS1...my fuel system was so clogged I couldn't even peel out! Even nice cars can be slow once in a while...Now she's much better. lol
