Seat belt warning light

How can I turn off the seat belt warning light on my 1997 VW Passat? The warning chime turns off when I buckle the driver's seat belt but the warning light on the dash does not go off. Thank you for any help you can give.

Re: Seat belt warning light

I'm having the same problem on my 96 passat. The seat belt light stays on and the chime keeps ringing. I can turn the radio up but the light bugs me. Anyone have any Ideas??
Thanks Passnbyu

Re: Seat belt warning light

Look under your drivers seat where the seat belt is connected. You have wires going to the belt. If you may have cut a wire. Mine is cut, but i don't get an alarm or seatbelt light that stays on.
