Replacing + & - battery terminals
I am very new to my 1998 3000GT and was wondering if anyone here has any experience of replacing the negative and positive battery cables in their 3s?
I noticed the positive cable seems to go down pretty far under the engine so I wondered if it is doable for anyone to replace the cables themselves instead of having a mechanic do that and spend the extra cash for that sort of thing? I like to get intimate with my car and doing things like this get you much more familiar with the car so I would prefer to handle this on my own. Any thoughts or suggestions from those who may have this experience? -SuperGar |

Re: Replacing + & - battery terminals
You can buy ends at most any parts stores, Jegs, and Summit. The positive cable runs to the fuse panel and I think that ther negative grounds on the chassis.

Re: Replacing + & - battery terminals
So I do not have to buy the entire cable then? All I need is to buy the ends? So do I clip the ends off the existing cable and then somehow clip the new ones on? Is there a special tool to use for this?
Thanks for the help! |

Re: Replacing + & - battery terminals
Yeah, you don't need new cables unless the insulation is trashed on youjr current ones. They are different kinds. Here is the set I'd buy. You just screw them together:
