01 Voyager starting issues

Hi all,
I have an 01 Voyager that does not start up sometimes. I just get a click when I turn the key. I would then try it again with the same results and it ususally starts on the 3rd attempt. It is usually when the engine is cold. After that it works fine. There are no loose battery connections so I'm guessing it might be the starter or the ignition switch.
I'm hoping someone may have seen this before and might be able to point me in the right direction.

I had a exactly same probrem with clicking sounds.
It was a sterter solenoid contacts that almost half way worn out.

If you are a handy person, get a starter solenoid contact kit from part stores for only CD$3.
And replace it. The job was quite strait forward. You can find the procedure in this forum.

Or replace the starter assembly.

The most common reason for clicking when you turn the key is a weak battery. Just because the dash lights up or the headlights are bright doesn't mean the battery is good. It takes much more power for the starter to turn the engine over then to turn lights on. Make sure the connections at the battery and starter are clean and tight. Get the battery load tested. Many auto parts stores (AutoZone for one) will test your starter and battery for free.

Couple things to try:
Jump the car using jumper cables. If it starts right up it indicates a weak battery.
Tap on the starter when you turn the key. If it starts with tapping it indicates bad starter contacts.
Two things will click, the starter and the starter relay. If just the relay is clicking, it indicates the starter contacts are worn.

The battery is pretty new, installed this summer. The contacts are clean and tight. I guess I should have the starter pulled out and have autozone test it for me. The problem is I have the car up for sale and would hate to spend a bundle on repairs.
I'll look at what you guys say and post back with the results when I get it to autozone.

Did you check the contacts inside solenoid?
I'm not saying the outside contact to battery(+). It's two peice of coffer contact in the solenoid. You should pull out the starter and solenoid.
