Parts Prices - Feedback?

I don't mean to cross post but I was not getting any feedback in the other thread.

Re: Codes 171 & 174 TSB # 03-16-1 update
Hi. I am having the same problem with my 1999 Winstar and I am going to attempt this repair. I live in southern Ontario and I was wondering where is the best price for the parts needed? Has anyone used these kits that are available online?

http://www.1aauto.com/1A/IntakeManif...ar/1AEVC00013/

Are they any good?

OK. Just got back from pricing the parts at 3 Ford dealers. All of their prices were the same. Two of them never heard of a INTAKE CENTER SECTION but the third did. He called it a spacer # CM*5053*. I had a look at it and as you said OilHammer it has all the seals you need and more. It has the port seals, upper intake gasket and isolater bolts. The only thing I need to get extra is the valve cover itself and the vacuum lne if I think I need it.

So here are the prices:

SPACER (or INTAKE CENTER SECTION) $290.18
VALVE COVER $121.08
VACUUM HOSE $ 38.88
TAXES $ 63.02
TOTAL $513.16

So anyone work at a Ford dealership and get a discount? I wonder what the prices are in the states?

Thanks

I use www.1stfordparts.com for all my OEM part needs. I'm in the states, so you may have to ask if they ship to Canada.

Hey thanks for the link. It looks like the prices are a third of what I have to pay here. I didn't find info that they shp to canada though. My wife is driving to Janesville Wisconsin next week so I think I should call or email a Ford dealer there and get the prices from him and have her pick them up.

Re: Parts Prices - Feedback?

well i had this isolator bolt fix done by a local shop in windsor. here is the parts prices i was charged.

Gaskets(intake) 6@2$4.14 = 24.84
Sealing bolts [email protected] = 104.04
Gasket(intake) [email protected] = 25.15
Engine valve cover kit(front) = 111.41

Total = $265.80 + tax

we should all file suit against ford if not already done!

yup windsor ontario can't be too far from you! yes states will be cheaper almost everytime, but the only thing is if its not the right part or you have to take it back it can be a pain.

Re: Parts Prices - Feedback?

Whenever you order from one of the online parts departments, make sure to include your VIN.
They ask for it in the online order process.
There were some mid-year changes, and the VIN will help them get you the correct part.

Most FORD dealers will charge you full list.
I used to get a nice discount at Venus Ford in the Milwaukee area, but they changed hands....and the discount went away.
They have still been very helpful and prompt in getting me parts though.
