Unhappy 98 Camry V6 Multiple Misfires Please help!

Hey! A few days ago my car started running rough whenever I attempted to accelerate, so I unfortunately brought it to Firestone and was told I had misfires on cylinders 2 and 5 and need said ignition coils changed as well as spark plugs, wires, and a fuel filter. Well, now I'm broke with no money for the upcoming holidays coupled with a car that still won't run properly. Now it says misfires on cylinders 1, 4 and 5. Of course, they want to start changing random parts till they figure it out (which is not financially an option). Does anyone have a clue that can lead me in the right direction???

How many miles do you have on your car?

For a 9 years old car it may be a good idea to do basic maintanance items like distributor cap, wires, spark plugs. I think 6 cyllinders are a little harder but still doable.

Misfire may be caused by bad injectors, but that would be the next step.

Good luck,

Sam

We need more information here. How many miles are on the car? Are you the original owner so you can give us some maintenance history? When was the last time the general maintenance items somick mentioned were changed (in terms of mileage and time)? Most missfires are caused by ignition system components, so somick is probably on the right path, but it would be best to first have a history of when these items were last replaced.

We could probably infer from that that Firestone changed the parts but, reading between lines can waste time. Please clarify.

you need to see if you a showing a trouble code first, miles arent important neither is the fact who the original owners are.
