Escape 2007 v 2008
Howdy,
I'm looking at buying an Escape for my wife. The lot near our house has both '07's and 08's. I kind of like the 07 styling but I'm not sure which is a better buy. Anyone know which may be a better ? Anyone know how much we can get knock off the price on either one? I'm thinking I should be able get $2,000 without too much trouble. Thanks Alan

Re: Escape 2007 v 2008
Hi Alan,
Ten views and no responses might just mean that people don't know the difference and aren't willing to guess and give you useless information. Make that 11 views now. ![]() Have you read any online reviews on the 2008 models? They typically compare with previous models. Ok, I'll give you an opinion that isn't exactly what you asked for - but it sounds like you want to hear anything from the forum at this point. Buy a 2004/2005 model with 50,000 miles on it that shows signs of being taken care of. Save yourself about 8,000 bucks, and then save even more on insurance, exise tax and sales tax. These cars are well built and reliable. I'm a Chevy guy but I bought one used and have had no regrets. Good luck.

Re: Escape 2007 v 2008
Thanks Highlandlake that's all I wanted.
I have been trying to dig around the internet and it seems only the body changed style for the most part. I'm working in Afghanistan so I can't look for anything used. I was buying this for my wife so I want to get her something nice. Two years ago I bought my '97 Aerostar over the internet and its been a real good van. Alan

Re: Escape 2007 v 2008
Hi Alan,
Here's what I was able to find about the changes. Nothing major, fortunately the engines are same. From cars.com.... "Exterior The Escape looks more like a Ford Explorer now, but with a plunging chrome grille in some trim levels that would be equally at home on a Volkswagen Jetta or Golf. A raised hood and higher beltline may make the SUV look tougher, but they probably don't do much for visibility. Interior Changes include a new top-of-dash display and blue gauge backlighting. An auxiliary audio input jack is now standard. The center control panel has gotten a badly needed update. Ford says the standard fabric seats use 100 percent post-industrial plastic waste. While post-industrial doesn't have quite as big an impact as post-consumer waste, Ford says the new source will conserve, annually, 600,000 gallons of water, the equivalent of 1.8 million pounds of carbon dioxide and more than 7 million kilowatt hours of electricity. Perhaps most important, Ford addressed one of the loudest complaints about the model by quieting the cabin. Sheet metal changes and a new windshield and ceiling liner address wind noise. Thicker carpeting is claimed to diminish road noise. Overall, Ford says, the Escape is 12 percent quieter at 80 mph. Unfortunately, the fabric is the only thing that seems to have changed about the seats. Folding the backseat flat still requires flipping the cushion forward and removing the head restraints. Under the Hood Though the powertrains are unchanged, a new electric power-steering system removes the constant load of conventional hydraulic assist, which should improve fuel economy. Safety In addition to the Safety Canopy side-impact and curtain airbags, the Escape now features an electronic stability system with Roll Stability Control. The latter — which comes only on SUVs from Ford-owned brands, including its originator, Volvo — is the only system with a sensor that actually detects the beginning of a rollover and can act to stop it."

Re: Escape 2007 v 2008
I own an 08 Ford Escape 4 cylinder and the three things I don't like about it are; the stiff shocks give a more rugged ride... I would have preferred a much softer ride, fuel economy could be better, and the seat covers not too appealing. Other than these facts, I think it is a great ride.

Re: Escape 2007 v 2008
check the lemon aid guide by phil edmonston! its appears a good car, what I have noted is rough ride due to the short wheel base & from the under centre part of the truck that sounds like something is swinging, when you stop. Otherwise, the sucker has lots of pickup. I feel the motor is equal to the weight of the truck!
my daughters call it, dads kitty car! |
