freaking CD deck!!!

ok so me and my uncle spent 6 hours trying to do an easy job installing a in dash deck...so we got it all hooked up all wires connected but for some reason the deck wasnt getting any power from the power wire what are some suggestions on what may be wrong and how can i fix it because right now im driving around with no radio and no music.. oh yea and to top it off we went to put in my old cd player and it made some wierd noise and then quit working what may haved caused that?

6 hrs? Good God. Get yourself one of those easy wiring adapter thingys. Go to Circuit City or Best Buy or wherever and tell them what deck you have and what kind of car. Those kits are stupid easy to hook up.
Basically that's the best advice I have for you if you can't figure it out on your own.

I am not sure what year you have but my cavalier is an 03 and it doesnt have an accessory wire. The harness did but my cars doesnt. I figured this out the hard when I did my stereo and it wouldnt weork. I had to wire it from the fuse box to get it to work properly, otherwise just hook the 12v wire and the acc together.
