need help installing stereo

i have a jvc unit ive recently installed into my alero, when i turn it on i don't get any response until i push display button, it stays on for about 5 seconds then shuts off, it will also take and eject cds, my problem is the sound, im not getting any sound through my speakers, and it wont stay on longer that 5 seconds.

Are you sure it is wired properly. I put a new head unit in my GTP and purchased a wiring kit to convert the radio wiring to fit the Pontiac. If you didn't purchase an install kit you may need to do so in order to get it to work correctly.

If you did purchase the power wire is where I would start to check and you may find that it is not getting proper voltage and that is why it is shutting off. Also check the ground to make sure it is good.

alright guys, i had to run my own wire throughout the car, and now it works fine. i still kept the old wire in contact just in case i decide to sell my stereo so i can reinstall the stock radio.
