1998 problem with coolant temp gauge

I put in a new coolant temp sensor and a junkyard temp sender gauge is still not reading. Could it be the gauge itself?

This morning I went to turn it on and now the fuel gauge doesnt read... and yes there is fuel just filled her up yesterday. Thanks in advance,
