Cam Synchronizer Removal Question
I have a question concerning the removal of the Cam Synchronizer (see attached). There seems to be what looks like gasket material that actually sits on top of the Synchronizer flange. Will this cause a problem when pulling the faulty synchronizer?

I own a white 2003 Ford Taurus (my 3rd Taurus). It has a 3.0 V6 Vulcan engine. Taurus stands for:
T-ools A-re U-sed R-egularly by U S I love the Ford Taurus. Not some repackaged 500 now called a Taurus. All of Taurus(s) have made a decent mechanic out of me. I hope that you will be able to help me with my question. Thank You. |

Unfortunately the Ford factory service manual doesn't describe if there is a gasket or not. Following are the steps per the factory service manual:
