97 GTP vs. 06 Scion tC

Ok so my friend has a TRD or TDR (i forget what he said) turbocharged Scion tC and I want to race him but he's scared and won't race me. His is stock other than the turbo and all I have is a u-bend & resonator delete. I really know nothing about those cars and he said it came with the turbo already but when I look for specs on it all it says is 160 hp but I know it's pushin more than that with the turbo. How do you guys think a race would go from a dig?

tell your friend to stop being such a panzie and line'em up!!!

I used to know of a website that listed 0-60 and quarter mile times of specific vehicles. I'll see if I can find it.

I think your talking about that allbeedigital.com site, that's what I used atleast and it said this:
Scion

2006 Scion TC Sport Coupe 6.9 15.1 (R&T Jan '06)

I ran a 14.689 before my mods so it would be a little bit faster than that.. but is that 15.1 the time of the turbo'd tC?

I dont know man, was this POS scion ever offered without a turbo? If he's so confident that he'd smoke you, then why wont he even just line up?

Re: 97 GTP vs. 06 Scion tC

I would take those 0-60 1/4 mile times pages with a grain of salt. Some can be close to the truth and on some of them, it appears they tested them with only 3 wheels. I also believe the Scion was never offered with a turbo from the factory. If he put on an aftermarket turbo who knows if it is fast or if it is some junker off of ebay. Stock for stock the GTP should win, if the Scion has a decient turbo setup and a good tune, I would say the Scion. In my SL, I have gone agianst a GTP twice. First time was a very short run to about 50 and he pulled just a tad on me. The second one was a highway run and nobody gained any ground...agian, it was not a terribly long race. I have raced the n/a Monte Carlo 3800, Camaro 3800, and a GP 3800 all n/a, and had no problem. I have never gone agianst a Scion. The only way to find out who would win is not bench racing though, go out and do it. Any chance of video?

Re: 97 GTP vs. 06 Scion tC

I've been tryin but he says he's scared he'll get a ticket or some bullshit. It's weird though because I never heard of the tC coming stock with a turbo either but I know a girl with an 06 and she says hers is supercharged (it actually is pretty damn fast) but she knows shit about cars so I'm sure she didn't put an aftermarket one on. And the guy I'm trying to race says he has a turbo on his and it's the same thing, he doesn't know anything about cars so I'm sure he wouldn't put that on either so basically I'm confused as hell. But I work with him tonight so I'll try to talk him into it this weekend and if we do I'll get a video for sure.

Simple, Tel him you want to see under the hood. You know what a turbo looks like, right? If you dont see one, just make it up "man, that turnbo must push 16psi, you'll win for sure" Then smoke him.

That's exactly what I did and guess what, he was like naw dude I don't have one I was just playing. But anyway he still thinks he'll win so I think we're gonna race this weekend so hopefully I'll get a clip of it.

Meh, maybe he has some custom setup. Most TC's have a s/c offered by TRD that is not worth crap. Many of them still running low 15's or high 14's even after the s/c mod. I am getting a feeling he may just be blowing smoke about a turbo. Not impossible, but to me, it seems improbable. If I had to put down money on it, I would say the GTP would win. It just seems like he is throwing out excuses to hide his lies.

Oh, and I see you used to own a 95 Dodge Stealth. That is a pretty rare car. Was it a TT? If you had the 96 Stealth TT I would bow at your presence lol.......EXTREMELY RARE.

Re: 97 GTP vs. 06 Scion tC

My 2000 GT pulls a half car length ahead on the start, and then pulls away after 60mph on a stock NA 2005 TC.

Make him race you.

Wait, your car pulls away at 60? Seems like for me it would be the other way around, idk if it's just my car or what but I did a 0-100 & a 0-60 run the other night (with someone 200 lbs in the car with me). The 0-60 was like 6.8 and to get to 100 was like 18.1 so that means it took about 12 seconds to get from 60-100 . Are the tC's really that slow?

Stock for stock, there should be no reason the GTP should not win. Especially if you are higher altitdue where the TC (assuming it is still n/a) is getting thin air where as the GTP would be getting compressed air.
