electrical Problems Help!!

on my 1993 firebird keeps draining the battery when the car is running, battery and alternator where tested to be good, brand new starter also, this happened after i took out my headers to be coated then reconnected them, i have traced about every wire that i can think of and they are all good, another thing is that the car will start but then immediately die right afterwards unless i give it gas to keep it running, soon as i let of gas it stalls out, recently i have also replaced the window motor. seems like grounding problem but i cannot find any broke or burnt wires. any help would be greatly appreciated...

GM normally locates grounds on the ends of the cylinder heads, I'd triple check and make sure if any were removed, they were'nt left dangling (sometimes theres' 2 overlapping on the same bolt, or that one didn't get cracked or anything of the sort.

i spent all morning rewiring and checking grounds and still the same problem.i have another firebird and after comparing the electrical tests, the air pump fuse in the block in the dash isn't reading any voltage.i cant find in my repair manual where the ground is located for it, could this be it, how do i check that the air pump is working...thanks

I don't know off the top of my head if it is case grounded or not, can't remember. BUT, if you suspect the ground is open, you should still have votage up to the point of the open, so you should see power at the fuse, just no flow (amperage).

well i looked through my manual to test the air pump and it does work, im all out of ideas on what it could be, any others suggestions, im feed up and im gonna take it to a mechanic all though it will probably drain to nothing on the way and it is too low to use a dolly, this thing is just dead weight in my driveway, thanks for all the help

on my 93 firebird ihave recently replaced my spark plug wires, before they were burnt through and splitting.now my problem is that the car runs but i have to give it gas to keep it going and the voltmeter gauge reads around 10.i checked all my grounds and they are all good,is it possible that my wires melted through again and are grounding on the block or headers and causing a massive voltage drain as well as poor running...help

You're never going to net good help not including all the details on one specific problem. Please remember, we'd love to help you out, but we're working off the information you are providing, and if it's scattered and limited, so will the assistance be.

You say you also put headers in? Headers usually run hotter than stock manifolds which are hot enough, you need to get the wires clear and away from them. You can buy hangers for them at most autopart stores that mearly require removing a valve cover bolt to hold them on. A wise investment.
