99 malibu (IAT) sensor

I did the intake gasket replacement last week-end on this car. It runs fine but the engine lite came on this week-end. checked the code and it comes up P0113 Which is the Intake Air Temperature Sensor. Now would the sensor be bad or is it something else ahead of the sensor. I just changed the air filter today. Was going to go and get the engine light reset and see waht happens. Has anybody else had this problem. Thanks Gary

Re: 99 malibu (IAT) sensor

What all came up under that code P0113? I work at Autozone and we can check codes. Usually it gives us a few things that could be wrong with the IAT sensor. Usually when the IAT reads on the trouble codes it ususally is the sensor or the plug. Make sure the plug is fully snapped onto the sensor. Then get the codes reset. See what happens from there.

Re: 99 malibu (IAT) sensor

It says PO113 IAT Sensor 1 circuit high input. The cars seems to drive fine but would like to get it so the service engine lite will stay off. I checked the plug in it seems ok and is plugged in all the way. Do they make a pig tail kit for the connection? Thanks for getting back. Gary

Re: 99 malibu (IAT) sensor

I replaced my sensor recently and also had to repair/solder a broken wire near the sensor. Feel the wires leading from the sensor and you will probably find a broken wire close to the sensor which is felt inside the insulation of the wire. This is a common problem and new pigtails are sold if you aren't comfortable with this repair.
Good luck.
