01 Blazer starting problems

About 2 months ago my truck started to not start right. It would always start right up. Now it just keeps turning over for a while, then starts. But if you turn the key to where the fuel pumps kicks in and wait, then start, it starts right up. Runs great while driving around town or on the hwy. So we had the fuel regulator changed.(started with the cheaper fix first) Still, wont start right. I figured after 2 months of not starting, if it was the fuel pump, it would have gone out by now. Any suggestions where to go from here?

Use a fuel pressure tester and check what your cold start fuel pressure is. Sounds to me the check valve in fuel pump is leaking thus you are loosing the fuel pressure while it sets for a period of time.

Read this thread MT-2500 has a excellent procedure for fuel pressure testing: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=753979

Hope this helps

Re: 01 Blazer starting problems

Before we changed the regulator, when he checked the presure, it would read 60 something then would drop down to 0 in 30 secs. I dont know what the reading is after the regulator was changed but I will find out this week.
Thanks.
