90 TC oil pan

Hi i have a 1990 town car with the 5.0
i know that the oil pan is bad and i recently stop driving it cuz gas and oil are expensive...about a quart for every 50 miles
2 months of not starting i figured i should start it fired right up, god i love that car lol
i guess my point is is there any way i can change the pan without pulling the motor. a few shops i took it to quoted me 800 to 1000+

another thing is in the 6 years me and my family have had the car we have had the starte replaces 4 5 maybe 6 times what could caues this...

Hello Josh

To be honest I don't know if you can change the pan with out pulling the motor. I would say at least that you would unbolt the motor mounts and raise the engine up a few inches to get more room under there. Some times you need to remove the transmission to get the pan out. I had to remove the trans on my 78 ford van to get the pan out, since the engine cradle was in the way. For cost reasons it would probally be best to diy if you can handle that type of job.
As for you starter oil can leak down into them, you mentioned you has an oil leak. That can sure mess up a starter. Also if you are using cheap re man ones they can go bad, on the way home from the auto parts store. I like a good used OEM one from a junk yard.
