Audio Help
I am planning on getting 2 10" alpine type R subs for my 02' cav., what size amplifier should I get? I'm not real good with the whole audio aspect so some help and suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Audio Help
In my opinion, Jl Audio makes the best amps.
I think its the slash series. THey work with low voltage, and they put out the same power regardless of the voltage, I think down to 9. They make a 250/1 JL audio amp that will easliy push 2 12s if you decided to upgrade. I am running punch amps and I totally love them. |

Re: Audio Help
I would say no no on the Alpine man. Check this out. JWDesinz in alliquipa pa hit a 178 with 2 SPLW15's and BXI 1606D. Check out the SPLW12's if 12's are what you want. Either way they should be wired ( each woofer ) series the coils, paraleled into the amp. This will create between a 1.3 - 2.0 ohm load and this amp will run strong for a long long time without heat issues.
Hope this helps, Jake - www.StompAudio.com loyal customer ps. they also have a new forum. http://forum.stompaudio.com. When you check them out stop by and say hi.

Re: Audio Help
those jl amps get the same sound no matter the input voltage by charging caps to maintain voltage going to the amp. they sound nice though.. good and warm - nice dampening

Re: Audio Help
in my opinion... ( i have two twelves) for sound qaulity, 10's do much better with the right amp.
you get alot tighter cleaner bass, whereass with a 12 you get more "thump" |

Re: Audio Help
depends how many watts r.m.s. the subs are rated at. and as for your system not rattling....good luck with that. you have a cavalier and ANYTHING that is somewhat loose will rattle. hell my back deck rattles with my stock speakers in it if i turn it up high enough. get some dynomat and some new weatherstripping and you might be able to avoid rattling. i would go with a good powerful 10, cuz anything more than that will be way to loud for a cavalier. my friend had a 15" solobaric and a 800 watt amp in an integra and bass is all you could hear.
