Ever tried to bolt a Ford Windsor cylinder head onto a small block Chevy? No? It's not designed to. The TH350 uses SAE (English) measurements - inches etc. The TH700R4 uses metric measurements. The front pumps are different, spline count is different, hub diameter is different. You can use a torque converter for a TH400 on a TH350 and vice versa - as they are the same. You can use a TH2004R converter with its 27-spline input shaft on an early TH700R4, through mid 1984, but from mid-'84 to today the TH700R4/4L60/4L60E (non-PWM) uses a converter for a 30-spline input shaft.
