Bypass the supercharger

Hi I have 1993 bonneville ssei and i was wondering, because of the increase of gas prices, if it were possible to bypass the supercharger pulley and use regular gas. The price of premium gas where i live has reaced over 3.40 a gallon and still rising. So i was just wondering if this would cause any problems either mechanically or performance wise(besides the obvious hp loss) to temporarly bypass the supercharger and use regular gas.

Re: Bypass the supercharger

Welcome to AF!!

Just remove the supercharger belt. It will bypass the supercharger but your performance will certainly suffer. I suggest that leave the belt on and just keep your foot out of the throttle. That way if you need the increased performance the supercharger will be available for use.

Re: Bypass the supercharger

I think you better leave the belt on, I think your year runs the water pump if Im not mistaken. Might as well trade in for non SC.
