Audi R8 stock version

Yes, this is my second R8 I'm building.

I bought it today and when I was home I started sanding the body.

After that I primed it and later I sprayed 3 layers MS-02 Bright Silver and 1 layer clearcoat (TS-13)

This R8 will be build OOB. The other I'm making will be custom.

When paint is dry enough I'll add some brushed aluminium on the sidepanel of the body and clearcoat it some more.

Kris.

Re: Audi R8 stock version

Update!

First I stripped of the chromewheels. After that I painted them semigloss silver which looks like the chrome on fujimi wheels

And I started on the engine. The valve cover felt of during the photoshoot so I dryfitted it on the engine, so do'nt worry about the big gap between it

Yesterday I added some BMF on the sidepanels and sanded it a bit to create a brushed alu look.

The BMF looks crappy on this pic but it's just on the bodyline and in real life it's not vissibel so much.

Next week I'll add some decals and clearcoat it another time.

Kris.

Re: Audi R8 stock version

I forgot to add the decals so after I placed them I clearcoated the body anothter 2 times.

It's shiny but on the pics it looks like flat silver :S

I also carbonized the enginebay and enginecover which was also painted.
I used ScaleAutoStyle carbon decals.

Re: Audi R8 stock version

I guess Revell assumes we are all going to paint our R8's silver, hence the black Audi scripts. Crazymodeler or someone else needs to produce Audi metal transfers!

you can find regular sized Audi 4 rings on a Mr Models European Auto Emblem set that also features very nice badges for Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar among others.

Re: Audi R8 stock version

After a while I finished the chassis and body.

First the chassis and engine.

Placed the engine on the chassis. No extra detail because it's not vissible anymore when completed.

The chassis needs to be lowered in front, so I lowered it a bit.

The engine only needed a firewall (with window )

Placed the discbrakes behind the new painted wheels.

And now the body.

Here's a list of what I've done.

- grille placed
- bumperfaces (front, back and sides)
- mirrors needed some BMF
- front and taillights placed
- numberplates placed
- black trim around all windows
- wipers placed
- brakinglight placed
- fuellcap placed

Unfortunatly I broke one of the taillights but I have no new or other one so I still used it.

and a dryfit of all completed parts:

Now I only have to do the interior. I already puttied the seats. The interior will be basic in flat black and some aluminium detail.

Re: Audi R8 stock version

The owering of the suspension seems to be a little too much, but maybe the dryfit pics just suggest that. In the last picture it seems as the wheels are touching the body.
Besides that the paint job is on spot.
