Need Help....

I'm trying to drain the coolant out of my '88 Trans Am GTA (5.7 TPI). There is water mixed with the coolant due to an overheating issue over the summer and water being the only thing accessible at the time to take the car home. With the temperature dropping rather quickly, I would like to drain everything ASAP. Can anyone tell me if there is a drain plug on the block and if so where? If not, what would be the best way to drain out the coolant from the engine? Any help would be greaty appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes, there are drains on each side of the block, about midway, just above the pan rails. The holes are 1/4"NPT, but we've seen them plugged with both "hex head" (external) and "socket head" (Allen wrench). Often, a bit of heat is required to get them to break free. Heat the plug, not the block. Propane MAY be enough, but sometimes a real torch is called for (acetyline).

Be VERY sure to use the correct size socket, and if the hex is external, use ONLY a 6-point socket. These are known to "round off" under stress.
